Northern Vietnam Essentials – 4 Days

DAY 1 – HANOI CITY TOUR & STREET FOOD EXPERIENCE

Your journey begins with a discovery of Hanoi, the charming capital of Vietnam, where centuries-old traditions blend naturally with the energy of modern life.

In the morning, visit the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Complex, an important historical site where visitors can learn more about the life and legacy of President Ho Chi Minh. Continue to the Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first national university and one of Hanoi’s most beautiful examples of traditional Vietnamese architecture.

In the afternoon, discover the peaceful Ngoc Son Temple, located on a small island in the heart of Hoan Kiem Lake. Take a leisurely walk around the lake before continuing into Hanoi’s fascinating Old Quarter, a maze of narrow streets, small shops and traditional houses.

In the evening, enjoy a Hanoi Street Food Experience. Walk through the lively streets with your local guide and taste some of the city's famous specialties, such as Pho, Bun Cha, Banh Cuon, Nem and other local snacks.

This is a great opportunity to experience Hanoi not only through its monuments, but also through its everyday life, local flavours and vibrant street atmosphere.

After breakfast, leave Hanoi and travel south towards Ninh Binh, one of northern Vietnam's most spectacular destinations.

Upon arrival, begin your exploration of the countryside around Tam Coc, often described as “Ha Long Bay on land”. The landscape is characterised by dramatic limestone mountains, peaceful rivers, rice fields and small rural villages.

Enjoy a relaxing bicycle ride through the countryside, following quiet paths between rice paddies and limestone cliffs. This is an excellent way to discover the authentic rural atmosphere of northern Vietnam and observe local life away from the main tourist routes.

Continue to Bich Dong Pagoda, a beautiful traditional Buddhist site built into the limestone mountains. The pagoda is surrounded by lush vegetation and offers a peaceful setting to discover the spiritual and architectural heritage of the region.

After the visits, return to the hotel and enjoy some free time to relax.

Overnight in Ninh Binh.

After breakfast, depart Ninh Binh for Ha Long Bay, one of Vietnam's most iconic natural landscapes and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Upon arrival at the cruise harbour, board your overnight cruise and receive a warm welcome from the crew. After check-in, settle into your private cabin and enjoy a welcome drink while the cruise begins sailing through the spectacular limestone islands and emerald waters of the bay.

Life on board

The cruise offers a comfortable and relaxing way to discover Ha Long Bay. Your private cabin is equipped with modern amenities and large windows or a private balcony, allowing you to enjoy the changing scenery directly from your room.

During the afternoon, depending on the cruise itinerary and weather conditions, you may take part in activities such as:

• Exploring a limestone cave
• Kayaking or taking a local bamboo boat
• Swimming in a quiet bay or secluded beach
• Enjoying a cooking demonstration
• Relaxing on the sundeck while admiring the scenery

As the sun begins to set, return to the cruise and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the bay.

Dinner is served on board, featuring a selection of Vietnamese and international dishes, often with fresh seafood and local specialities.

After dinner, enjoy some free time on the sundeck or participate in evening activities organised by the cruise, such as squid fishing or simply relaxing under the stars.

Wake up early if you wish to experience the peaceful beauty of Ha Long Bay at sunrise. The limestone islands emerging from the mist create a spectacular and serene atmosphere.

Enjoy breakfast on board while the cruise continues its journey through the bay.

Depending on the cruise programme, there may be time for a final activity, such as kayaking, a short visit or relaxation on the sundeck.

A brunch or early lunch will be served while the boat gradually makes its way back to the harbour.

After disembarkation, meet your driver and begin the journey back to Hanoi.

Arrival in Hanoi in the afternoon. The rest of the day is free for you to relax, explore the city independently or enjoy some last-minute shopping.
